1. I do that and find it useful, as long as the lace pattern isn’t too complicated. Sometimes I have to suck it up and pull the needles out, then pick up stitch by stitch when I get to the row I want. Painful!

    • Yes, I found the same – with complex lace or patterns which naturally undulate and are particularly difficult to track the row, sometimes nothing but tinking will work. Or starting over if the amount of work is just not worth saving. Here my mistake was in a last repeat of the lace border at the very edge of the shawl, so well worth finding a clearly visible row.
